  2017-18   LEAD:  Leadership Exploration and Development Program



The AzDA is excited to offer our members LEAD:  Leadership Exploration and Development Program.  Applicants will be chosen by the AzDA Council on Membership & New Dentists.  Candidates, who must be AzDA members in good standing, must complete this online application.  This comprehensive 12 month program is designed to build personal leadership skills through immersion experiences within organized dentistry.  No previous volunteer experience is required; participants will receive a thorough orientation to every aspect of the ADA organization.  Stipend will be provided to ensure participating is essentially a no-cost experience.  100% attendance and participation is required for all participants at each of the designated sessions.  Graduates of the LEAD program will receive a free 2018 WRDC registration.

The program consists of four sessions:

 

January 25, 2017 – May 5: Online application phase. 
Chosen applicants will be notified by May 19, 2017. 

Session 1
LEAD Kickoff Event, AzDA Office, 9am – 5pm, June 17, 2017
Leadership skills and assessment training.
Problem-solving model.
Group Project.
Team Building Event @ Escape the Room.
Happy Hour or dinner to follow.

 

Session 2
Fall Conference, Sedona Hilton, September 8-9, 2017
Friday: 
Council on Government Affairs or ADF Board Meeting (AM)
Board of Trustees Meeting (PM)
Dinner with Lead AdHoc Committee and local leadership.

Saturday:
Attend House of Delegates meeting, 8am – Noon (Saturday 9)

 

Session 3
Dental Day, Downtown Phoenix (Exact date TBD), February 2018

Attend Dental Day at the Capitol
Morning session to learn current advocacy issues
Meet with legislators

 

Session 4
Western Regional Dental Convention, Phoenix Convention Center, April 12-14, 2018
The class will present their group project and upon completion be recognized in a graduation ceremony. Free WRDC registration included.

 

Between Sessions:             
Class members will attend monthly Zoom (video conference) meetings to work on the project and be informed on all aspects of the tripartite. 

 

Group Project

At the direction of the Board of Trustee, the LEAD class will work together to complete the project.  Presentation will be made during the new dentist's event during WRDC.
