A BODEX reminder about license renewal
During the 2021 Legislative session, Senate Bill 1013 passed and was signed by the Governor with an effective date of 1/1/2022.
This new law amends the expiration date of all dental licenses from 6/30 every three years to the licensee's birthday every three years and begins this coming January.
So, beginning in 2022, you will be required to have your CE requirements met, and you will have to submit your renewal application and pay the renewal fee within 30 days of your birthday. If you do not have your CE requirements met AND your application and payment have not yet been received within 30 days of your birthday, your license will expire.
For example, if you were born on February 15, you would need to have your CE requirements met and your renewal application and renewal fee sent in by March 17—NOT June 30.
If you were born on November 1, you would need to have your CE requirements met and your renewal application and renewal fee sent in by December 1—NOT June 30.
FROM BODEX: The Board met on 11/5 and has granted some grace through this transition in both 2022 and 2023 by granting CE extensions for all licensees with birthdays between Jan 1 and June 30 to complete their CEs. The Board will also waive the late fee for the same licensees from Jan 1 through June 30. However, the licensees will still have to submit their renewal application and renewal fee by their birthday or within the 30-day period after their birthday.

To make the renewal process more efficient, the Board has taken the liberty of stating that the renewal and subsequent expiration will still be based on the licensee's birthday, but the licensee will have until the last day of the following month to complete the renewal application, submit their CE and pay the renewal fee. For example, any birthday in March will have until April 30 to complete the process, any birthday in April will have until May 31 to complete the process and so on.
