For a score of at least 70% (seven out of ten) you will be issued one hour of CE credit through the Arizona Dental Association (AzDA). There is a $20.00 processing fee for each test submitted. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Arizona Dental Foundation. All tests will be handled confidentially. AzDA is a Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP) provider conducted under the auspices of the American Dental Association.

Fill out the following information. This information will appear on the confirmation.

  1. If you have a positive biological monitor (BI) reading from a steam sterilizer, you can continue to use the sterilizer unless a second test shows positive.


  2. If you have a positive biological monitor reading from a steam sterilizer, you must pull all instruments processed from the last BI negative reading and immediately reprocess them.


  3. If you have a positive biological monitor reading from a steam sterilizer, you must remove the sterilizer from use and




  4. If one or more BI reading is positive after the three consecutive cycles to check the autoclave




  5. An example of a class 1 chemical indicator is the ink change on a peel-view type package.


  6. An example of a class 1 chemical indicator is autoclave tape.


  7. It is the responsibility of the entire clinical staff to understand the indicator readings so packages can be pulled from use if the readings indicate an incomplete sterilization cycle.


  8. If monitors indicate a sterilizer failure and instruments that were processed in the sterilizer were used on patents, it would be considered a bloodborne exposure incident.


  9. The cost of prevention is less than the cost of infection control and the tracking of an exposure incident.
