Dodell, Hauseman Share AzDA "Dentist of the Year" Award


Scottsdale AZ, March 10, 2010: The Arizona Dental Association (AzDA) has named David S. Dodell, DMD (Scottsdale) and Dean M. Hauseman, III, DMD (Tucson) "Dentist of the Year." The selection was made by the AzDA Board of Trustees, comprising dentists from all areas of the state, based upon "outstanding contributions to the profession of dentistry in Arizona." The awards were presented by AzDA’s 101st President, Donald C. Simpson, DDS (Sierra Vista) who also completed his term during the AzDA House of Delegates meeting on March 6 at Phoenix Convention Center in conjunction with the AzDA Western Regional Dental Convention.

Dr. Dodell was born in Brooklyn, NY. He completed pre-dental studies at Arizona State University, earned his dental degree from Tufts University in Boston, and returned to Arizona where he has practiced General Dentistry for nearly 30 years. His service to organized dentistry includes Treasurer of the Central Arizona Dental Society, AzDA Council on Dental Education, Consultant to the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners, and American Dental Association Council on Communications. He is currently on the faculty at the Midwestern University School of Dental Medicine (Glendale, AZ) and assists AzDA in expanding its technological capabilities through various services he personally provides such as web hosting, email list serves, and front line servers.

Dr. Hauseman was born in Bozeman, MT. He completed his undergraduate degree at Willamette University, his dental degree at Oregon Health Sciences University, and his Endodontics specialty at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. His service to organized dentistry includes the AzDA Council on Dental Care and prolific efforts in developing and growing the annual HopeFest event in Tucson which in 2009 provided nearly 20,000 people with free dental care, medical care, groceries, haircuts, clothing, hygiene items, and more. In recognition of this work, Dr. Hauseman was a recipient of the 2004 Access Recognition Award from the American Dental Association Council on Access, Prevention, and Inter-professional Relations.
