Arizona Dental Association Provide State Lawmakers Free Dental Screenings
Scottsdale, Ariz. - The Arizona Dental Association provided free dental screenings to members of the state Legislature and their staff today, Feb. 9, 209. The goal was to educate state lawmakers about the importance of dental screenings for children. Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease among Arizona children, with three times more cases than the national average. It is important that children start dental screenings as early as the age of 1 to help prevent oral health disease that can last a lifetime. In addition, dental pain among children is the leading reason for school absences. The Arizona Dental Association is pursuing several initiatives aimed at educating parents about the health benefits of early intervention. The program would require children to receive a dental screening, much like immunizations, before entering school. To demonstrate how easy and quick a screening can be, the Arizona Dental Association sponsored a free dental screenings during the association’s annual Capitol Day held on the House of Representatives Lawn at the Arizona State Capitol. |
