Glendale Dentist Elected Vice President of Arizona Dental Association


Scottsdale AZ, April 29, 2008: During its April 5, 2008 House of Delegates session at the Phoenix Convention Center, the Arizona Dental Association (AzDA) elected Mark Hughes, DDS to serve as Vice President. Also elected were Regina Cobb, DDS (President, Kingman), Donald Simpson, DDS (President-elect, Sierra Vista), Bryan Shanahan, DDS (Secretary, Flagstaff) and Todd Hellwig, DMD (Treasurer, Scottsdale).

Dr. Hughes earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. He was a member of the American Student Dental Association, serving as National Vice-President in 1983-84. He has owned and operated a private practice in General Dentistry in Glendale since 1984.

Dr. Hughes’ service to organized dentistry includes President of the Central Arizona Dental Society, AzDA Secretary, Alternate Delegate to the American Dental Association, AzDA Council on Budget & Planning, AzDA Council on Dental Care, Arizona Dental Political Action Committee and the Nominations & Elections Committee of the Central Arizona Dental Society.

As Vice President of the Arizona Dental Association, Dr. Hughes will assist the President (Dr. Regina Cobb, Kingman) as needed and in the event of a vacancy in the office of the President, and the President-elect is unable to accede to that office, Dr. Hughes would move to the office of the President for the unexpired portion of the term. Dr. Hughes will accede to the office of President-elect without other election immediately following the conclusion of the AzDA annual convention (March 14, 2009).
