Kingman Dentist Elected 100th President of Arizona Dental Association

Scottsdale AZ, April 29, 2008: During its April 5, 2008 House of Delegates session at the Phoenix Convention Center, the Arizona Dental Association (AzDA) installed Regina E. Cobb, DDS as the association’s 100th President and Donald Simpson, DDS (Sierra Vista) as President-elect. Additionally, Bryan Shanahan, DDS (Flagstaff) was appointed AzDA Secretary.

Dr. Cobb earned her DDS degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine (Cleveland, OH). She was a member of the American Student Dental Association and Delta Sigma Delta, an international dental fraternity. She has owned and operated a private practice in General Dentistry in Kingman since 1993.

Dr. Cobb’s service to organized dentistry includes Delegate to the American Dental Association, President of the Northern Arizona Dental Society and Chair of the AzDA Council on Membership and Membership Services. She is also currently chairing the AzDA Services Board of Directors, which provides leadership for AzDA’s wholly owned for-profit subsidiary.

As President, Dr. Cobb will represent AzDA to government agencies and civic/professional organizations. She will serve on association councils and committees, appoint chairs to those groups, serve as a Delegate to the American Dental Association and write columns for the AzDA publication.

Kevin R. Haley, DDS Elected President of Southern Arizona Dental Society

Scottsdale AZ, May 5, 2008: The Southern Arizona Dental Society (SADS), a component of the Arizona Dental Association (AzDA), is pleased to announce the election of Dr. Kevin Haley as President for 2008.

Dr. Haley maintains a private practice in General Dentistry in Tucson. Born in Buffalo, NY, he earned his dental degree from the Georgetown University School of Dentistry (Washington, DC), his Fellowship Certificate in Geriatric Dentistry from the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center of Loma Linda (Loma Linda, CA) and his Master’s in Public Health degree from Loma Linda University.

An AzDA member since 1992, Dr. Haley’s service to organized dentistry includes Member of the SADS Nominations & Elections Committee, Member of the SADS Peer Review Committee and Member of the SADS Dental Health Committee.

When asked what he believes dentistry’s greatest opportunity is today, Dr. Haley says: “We live in an age of tremendous technological, scientific, personal and professional advancement and the greatest opportunity we have now is getting more members involved with organized dentistry.”

Roger A. Briggs, DDS Elected President of Central Arizona Dental Society

Scottsdale AZ, May 1, 2008: The Central Arizona Dental Society (CADS), a component of the Arizona Dental Association (AzDA), is pleased to announce the election of Dr. Roger Briggs as President for 2008.

Dr. Briggs maintains a private practice in General Dentistry in Scottsdale. Born in Havere, Montana, he completed his undergraduate studies at Loma Linda University (Riverside, CA) and went on to earn his dental degree from the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
An AzDA member since 1974, Dr. Briggs’ service to organized dentistry includes CADS Delegate to the AzDA House of Delegates, Chair of the CADS Dental Health Committee and Member of the CADS Nominations & Elections Committee.

When asked what he believes dentistry’s greatest opportunity is today, Dr. Briggs says: “For one, our opportunity for heightening public awareness about the connection between oral health and overall health is huge. And, we will always have opportunities to educate and be educated by other health care professionals.”

Michael R. Robertson, DMD Elected President of Northern Arizona Dental Society

Scottsdale AZ, May 1, 2008: The Northern Arizona Dental Society (NADS), a component of the Arizona Dental Association (AzDA), is pleased to announce the election of Dr. Michael Robertson as President for 2008.

Dr. Robertson maintains a private practice in Periodontics in Cottonwood. He earned his dental degree from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry and completed post-graduate studies at the UCLA School of Dentistry.

An AzDA member since 1996, Dr. Robertson’s service to organized dentistry includes Member of the AzDA Council on Government Affairs, Member of the NADS Continuing Education Committee and Member of the NADS Nominations Committee.

When asked what he believes dentistry’s greatest opportunity is today, Dr. Robertson says: “A growing awareness that good dental health is essential for overall health. This issue is being addressed when dealing with chronic inflammation and the negative effects it has on the body.”

Klemmedson, Ramsey Share AzDA Dentist of the Year Award

Scottsdale AZ, May 1, 2008: During its 2008 Western Regional Dental Convention at Phoenix Convention Center April 3-5, the Arizona Dental Association (AzDA) named Daniel Klemmedson, DDS, MD (Tucson) and Terry Ramsey, DDS (Scottsdale) “Dentist of the Year.” The selection was made by the AzDA Board of Trustees, comprising dentists from all areas of the state, based upon “outstanding contributions to the profession of dentistry in Arizona.”

The award was presented at the AzDA Dental Team Luncheon on April 4 at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix. Master of Ceremonies was Donald Simpson, DDS (Sierra Vista), AzDA Vice President for 2007-2008. Anita Elliott, DDS (Chandler), AzDA President 2007-2008, announced the awards and Dr. Regina Cobb (Kingman), AzDA President-elect 2007-2008, presented the awards.

Born in Missoula, MT, Dr. Klemmedson earned his DDS degree from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and his MD from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Southern California Medical Center and is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Phi Kappa Phi dental fraternities and Alpha Omega Alpha medical fraternity. He has maintained a private practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Tucson since 1985.

Currently serving as Speaker of the AzDA House of Delegates and on the American Dental Association Council on Dental Benefits Programs, Dr. Klemmedson’s service to organized dentistry also includes AzDA President (2005), Delegate to the American Dental Association, Chair-AzDA Council on Budget and Planning, Member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Political Action Committee and Member of the AzDA Services Board of Directors, which provides leadership for AzDA’s wholly owned for-profit subsidiary.

Dr. Terry Ramsey received his dental degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry and completed a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia. He maintains a private practice in Pediatric Dentistry in Scottsdale and is on the staffs of Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Scottsdale Memorial Hospital North Campus. He holds memberships in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Arizona Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Ramsey has served as a member of the AzDA Council on Government Affairs and served as an Alternate Delegate representing the Central Arizona Dental Society to the AzDA House of Delegates. He volunteers at the St. Vincent de Paul Dental Clinic and the John C. Lincoln Children’s Dental Clinic, as well as for the Arizona Special Olympics.
