REGISTRATION CODE: F01
9:00am-4:30pm (6 CEUs)
Alexander Carroll DDS, MBA
Audience: D

The six-hour course will provide the practitioner with easy to follow guidelines to diagnose and treat occlusal disease successfully. Posterior determinants of occlusion as well as variables determining occlusal surfaces of restorations will be reviewed. The course participants will be exposed to clinical protocols necessary to distinguish the potential problem TMJ patient. Guidelines to establish the necessity of recording true and arbitrary hinge axis recordings will be simplified for everyday use. Practical application of occlusal adjustments for the clinician will highlight the morning session.
The afternoon session focuses on primary and secondary occlusal trauma and the implications for major restorative work and/or implant cases. Practical, easy to follow, steps in treating patients requiring an increase in vertical dimension will be outlined. Centric and excursive records and the practical adjustment of the fully adjustable articulator will be the foundation for the remount procedures. The advantages of easy remounts of fixed and removable cases for the busy clinician are part of the afternoon session.

Saturday
Periodontal Maintenance: A Spectator Sport?
REGISTRATION CODE: S01
9:00am-12:00pm (3 CEUs)
Ralph Wilson DDS
Audience: ALL

The focus of this presentation is what to watch out for, what and how to treat things in your office, and what other options patients have. Systemic antibiotics, locally delivered antibiotics, bacteriologic testing, and lasers will all be touched upon in terms of what is most useful and what to expect in terms of results. Issues that come up during maintenance such as how to address implant restorations and gingival recession will be covered. There is growing evidence of a link between periodontal health and systemic health that will be reviewed for a clear perspective on what we currently know for the purpose of patient education. The goal is to help the dental team have a healthy, happy, and profitable hygiene department by giving a framework of when to do what and why.

Dr. Ralph Wilson graduated from the Ohio State University three times. In 1993, Dr. Wilson graduated with distinction with a BS in psychology. In 1999, he graduated cum laude with a DDS and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Epsilon Honor Society. He continued his education by specializing in periodontics and received a certificate in periodontology and a masters in 2002.
He was selected for an American Cancer Society Research Fellowship during his residency training and was the chief resident in his periodontal program. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Peridontology. He has published articles in cancer as well as dental journals and has been a podium speaker at the annual American Academy of Periodontology meeting on lasers as well as emerging technology and techniques. He is currently involved in research using lasers to treat periodontal disease. He also helps coordinate the analysis of less invasive ways to do sinus lifts that all the doctors in this practice are involved in.
